Abbottabad
The beautiful city of Abbottabad is located
in the Hazara District of the province of Khyber Pakthunkhwa, in Pakistan. The
city was founded in 1863 and is at an elevation of 1,256m or 4,121 ft. It sits in the valley among the mountains and
is a popular city for tourists, with its pleasant weather and its historical
significance.
The city was named after Major James Abbott
when the area was under British Rule. Within in Abbottabad resides the PMA the
Pakistani Military Academy where all future Army personnel of Pakistan begin
their training. It is also considered a
city which retains a high standard for educational institutions.
Yet the history alone is not the reason for
so many tourists. Abbottabad is a city of natural beauty, with the Sarban hills
surrounding it and the city and its residents residing in the cradle of these
hills the lush green forests that surround the city are breathtaking. Some
resorts and guest houses have been made on the slopes of the Sarban hills and
the view is breathtaking, with the Kashmir hills visible to the east and the
Kaghan Valley to the north the natural beauty of this area is beyond words and
as you travel further north, there are no words to describe the beauty.
