Abbottabad

Abbottabad

The beautiful city of Abbottabad is located in the Hazara District of the province of Khyber Pakthunkhwa, in Pakistan. The city was founded in 1863 and is at an elevation of 1,256m or 4,121 ft.  It sits in the valley among the mountains and is a popular city for tourists, with its pleasant weather and its historical significance.
The city was named after Major James Abbott when the area was under British Rule. Within in Abbottabad resides the PMA the Pakistani Military Academy where all future Army personnel of Pakistan begin their training.  It is also considered a city which retains a high standard for educational institutions.
Yet the history alone is not the reason for so many tourists. Abbottabad is a city of natural beauty, with the Sarban hills surrounding it and the city and its residents residing in the cradle of these hills the lush green forests that surround the city are breathtaking. Some resorts and guest houses have been made on the slopes of the Sarban hills and the view is breathtaking, with the Kashmir hills visible to the east and the Kaghan Valley to the north the natural beauty of this area is beyond words and as you travel further north, there are no words to describe the beauty.
Nathiagali, Ayubia and Naran are all major tourist areas when visiting Abbottabad and a must to truly see the beauty of the region.
