The beautiful city of Abbottabad is located in the Hazara District of the province of Khyber Pakthunkhwa, in Pakistan. Located in the province of Balochistan, Pakistan is Ziarat. It is the capital city of the mountains area of Ziarat District located 2542 meters above sea level. Ziarat means Islamic shrine and this particular city has a great deal of history and importance behind it.

It was once a popular summer resort for travelers and was the summer home of the Chief Commissioner of Balochistan. It is also famous for its Juniper forests, the largest juniper forests are in Ziarat in Pakistan.

Not only is Ziarat famous for its forest and stark beauty but for its importance in the history of Pakistan. The founder of Pakistan the Great Quaid-e-Azam Muhammed Ali Jinnah spent his last days in Ziarat in his residence there.  The building that was the last place of Jinnah was built in 1892 during the British Raj, constructed of wood it was originally designed as a sanatorium for European troops but was then converted into a summer residence. It is now a national monument that draws numerous tourists to Ziarat.

Unfortunately the landmark has suffered over the years. It was first damaged during the 2008 earthquake on October 8^th and then later in 2013. On June 15 the building was badly damaged by rockets fired on it by the Balochistan Liberation Army.
